Program Courses
Automotive Technology 1 is an introduction to the automobile and the automotive industry (standard levels 1 & 2). Students can expect to learn about all systems of the modern-day automobile, with special emphasis on brakes, suspension and steering systems, electrical, and engine performance. Much of the time in this class will be dedicated to learning the theory of the automotive systems with some time spent in the shop doing hand-on activities. Automotive Technology 1 is theory oriented and a proving ground for students that plan to enter Automotive Technology 2.
Automotive Technology 2 students review Safety and then proceed to performing hands-on tasks in the shop environment on live work (standard levels 3 & 4). This class is a continuation of each of the concepts covered in Automotive Technology 1, but is more hands-on. Students also complete internships with local businesses, and complete student portfolios, which are an accumulation of completed work while in this class.
Automotive Technology 3 prepares students to perform automotive diagnosis and repairs in the following areas: engine repair, cooling systems, transmission and transaxle, manual drive trains and axles, suspension and steering, wheel and tire, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, HVAC, and engine performance.
Automotive Technology 4 is a Work-Based Learning Experience.
